Nicola Jones
I started as a trainee for Thomson in Port Talbot (then Lunn Poly) in 1988. The shop was brand new to the area.
I then transferred to Neath as Assistant Manager. From there I went to Swansea.

In 1994 I moved to Chepstow and managed the Yate shop on the outskirts of Bristol. I worked in Yate until I had my first child, and then I decided to work part-time, in the Chepstow shop.

In 1997 my husband and I decided that we wanted to move back closer to home, so we moved back to Carmarthenshire where we have settled with our children for the last 11 years.

I worked in the Thomson shop in Carmarthen for 10 years until its closure in 2007.

I then decided that the time was right for me to leave the retail side of the travel industry and move into training and development. I had experience of the training programme which Thomson ran and took a keen interest in the training of the apprentices that we had within the shop.

I met Kate Bowen through her visits to the Carmarthen shop as an assessor, and Kate always gave great encouragement to the apprentices. It was Kate who I sought the advice from to complete the assessor award. Kate & Hayley both gave me the support and encouragement that I needed to complete the award, which allows me to assess in Travel & Tourism.

I have 20 years experience in the Travel Industry and now it’s my chance to give back to the Industry that I have enjoyed so much”
